Jay received his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville St. University in Alabama where he played both football and baseball on the collegiate level. He holds two M.A. degrees from Austin Peay State University (Education) and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Theology). Prior to his career in the philanthropic arena Jay was a successful business owner/entrepreneur.
During his over 20 years working as an executive with non-profits both nationally and internationally he has obtained a wide breadth of knowledge. “Being intimately involved with management, fundraising, operations, marketing, and public relations has just assisted me to better appreciate the importance that non-profits hold in all of our communities. These experiences have only gone to sharpen my awareness and heighten my excitement for the work being done to help the underserved in our communities.”
Jay is married to the former Georgina Corson from Ocean City, New Jersey where she was an educator for over 30 years. They have five children (all female) and ten grandchildren. We love to travel, and Jean plays Mah Jong and I play golf.
“My passion for SOAR is very personal to me as I had a daughter who struggled with reading. I was instantly drawn to the mission of SOAR to close the reading gap.”
