Pinellas County Urban League announces award recipients

The Pinellas County Urban League has announced that Carlo Franzblau, Co-Founder and Board Chair of Sing Out and READ, has been selected to receive the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Leadership Award.

His prestigious award is given in recognition of his outstanding work on behalf of those in the community who have been educated and inspired by Mr. Franzblau’s sing-to-read program – The Family Literacy Project or FLiP, for short. FLiP helps struggling, at-risk young readers (ages 6-12) attain reading proficiency in a cost-effective and rapid manner.

Mr. Franzblau will be honored at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Diversity and Empowerment Luncheon, an anchor event in the Pinellas County Urban League’s Black History Month.
