Source →Sing Out and READ is very excited to announce that the Tampa Bay Recruiter Networking Group (RNG) has joined forces with our Family Literacy Project (FLiP) to help at-risk kids become proficient readers. The RNG has committed to sponsor one FLiP family, and has set a goal to raise a total of $10,000 between now and December 31st to sponsor a total of 20 FLiP families. One hundred percent of the funds raised on the RNG GoFundMe campaign will go to enroll low-income families in FLiP’s cellular-enabled tablet program for home use.
According to RNG’s Philanthropy Committee Chair Jennifer Catalano, “Sing Out and READ’s FLiP program is a solution that works, and the recruiters of RNG genuinely want to help solve the literacy problem... This was an easy choice for 2020, a year when distance learning has put many kids at an even greater disadvantage.”
The FLiP program provides at-risk youth the opportunity to gain one full year’s reading level in just three months. Additionally, participants that successfully complete the program earn a high quality tablet of their own. The new award tablets help bridge the digital divide, which has become even more urgent in this time of the pandemic.
To fulfill our mission to close Tampa Bay’s Reading Achievement Gap, Sing Out and READ welcomes powerful strategic partnerships. RNG represents over 300 of the area’s most dynamic businesses and corporations including Raymond James, Tech Data, Jabil and many more. Sing Out and READ is proud to be part of the Tampa Bay community and recognizes the importance of community conversation focused so sharply on issues of race equality and COVID response. By helping at-risk youth become proficient readers now, we set them up for success in school and in their working lives for many decades to come. Please consider joining Sing Out and READ and the Tampa Bay Recruiter Networking Group as we provide opportunity for a brighter future to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
